BeGlad Gardens & Landscaping began the way the best small trades do — out of the back of a Toyota Corolla. Douglas Gladis was the person nursery customers kept tracking down for plant advice, until the advice quietly became a business. One man with a car full of plants grew, by demand rather than marketing, into a full-service garden-design studio.

That origin still shapes how BeGlad works. Douglas stayed narrow on purpose: garden design and installation, never mowing or general maintenance. Knowing which native shrub actually survives a Florida summer — and which palm won’t foul a pool — matters more to him than covering more ground.

He is as proud of teaching as of planting. His favorite outcome is to turn someone who never cared about gardening into someone who can’t stop tending their plants. Every yard is treated as one of a kind — never a template repeated house to house.
